Applique techniques are used in both bed and art quilts, in framed art pieces and mixed-media collage and to embellish garments. Using instructor’s patterns for fruit, sew samples of both on-lay and reverse appliqué using conventional invisible stitch, the running stitch, the whip stitch and embroidery stitches. Methods of preparing fabrics with facings and turned seams, and raw-edge technique are demonstrated and discussed using many classroom samples.
