I discovered raw linen when I used it as background for my 10 of Spades quilt made for Art Quilts: Playing With a Full Deck Full in 1993. Using raw linen is not conducive to the hand technique (running stitch) that I was using at the time. Because of it’s weight and stability, the linen made machine techniques easier. I connected my love for the appliqué shape with my interest in reading and collecting recipes and started making the little recipe quilts. Arrangement for Mixed Greens with Edible Flowers and Raspberry Vinaigrette made it into Quilt National ‘05.
